![]() and hopefully someone edits the article soon. Plus in the time period since the semiprotection was last instated, many things have changed, and our valiant vandalism-fighting robots are ready to revert most of the obvious vandalism that we're worried about. Many people would not have gotten started if not for editing without an account at first, and if we're going to semiprotect many of the popular (which also happen to be the ones that are most likely to be vandalized see Bush, George W.) we're losing that source of potential contributors. Doomgaze, I agree with you in principle, but I think - given the fact that the update has not yet occurred - that having semiprotection strongly discourages new (potential) Wikipedians from joining. Crazymonkey1123 public ( talk) 21:35, 23 April 2011 (UTC) Hmm, I note that you corrected my use of the template (I haven't been keeping up with all the different versions of the templates.), but no one's updated the article yet. doom gaze (talk) 19:05, 23 April 2011 (UTC) Not done: is not required for edits to unprotected pages, or pending changes protected pages. I guess it's not that much of a barrier for benevolent accountless editors, as requests can still be posted on the talk page and creating an account is quick and easy. If you look at the protection log, you can see that semi-protection was implemented many times and vandalism re-occurred every time it was removed. Oh, why is this article still semi-protected? It's been six months on semi-, and semi-protection should only be used on a short term basis to limit excessive vandalism, not for a long-term lockdown of users without accounts.ġ40.247.154.150 ( talk) 18:38, 23 April 2011 (UTC) I'm not a fan of using long-term protection myself, but I feel it is justified for high-profile pages like this that are a magnet for vandalism, particularly if the subject is a biography of a living person. The article should be updated to reflect the fact that she plans to transfer from Brown to another (undisclosed) school. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )." My interpretation of that is she's not taking any classes, but it's not 100% clear.- Bbb23 ( talk) 00:20, 1 April 2011 (UTC) Is this really encyclopedia material? - BwB ( talk) 08:57, 1 April 2011 (UTC) Sure, what she's doing regarding her career vs. I will still be working towards my degree. Darkemagik ( talk) 00:12, 1 April 2011 (UTC) According to her website (as of March 7, 2011): "I've decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I don't think it says she stopped going, I think it said she isn't taking as many classes. The news is nearly a week old, does anyone want to add it to the article?ġ24.183.154.233 ( talk) 05:46, 13 March 2011 (UTC) Thank you, Happy‑ melon, signed 67.175.247.229 ( talk) 02:46, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Īccording to her official website (via a personal message from Emma herself, dated 7 March) she has left Brown University for 'a semester or two' to concentrate on her many projects. That doesn't help in this case, but in general, it's reliable for any of the cases set out in WP:PRIMARY. Elizium23 ( talk) 04:44, 11 February 2011 (UTC) Erm, it's actually her official website it's a primary source. It appears to mostly re-publish news items that have come out in the mainstream media, and that makes it a tertiary source. is a promotional, specialty website which does not appear to have editorial oversight. Screen Daily is a mainstream news organization with a reputation for fact-checking and is expressly permitted by WP:RS. Signedĭarkemagik ( talk) 03:53, 11 February 2011 (UTC) Please read WP:RS for information on this. Still makes me question why you would post that is unreliable though, Elizium. But sorry for the confusion, Bbb23, I didn't know it had to be in production. Okay, Elizium, I didn't know that Emma Watson's Official website wasn't a reliable source.
